but then it just semantics!
The dating version is “that’s nice.” The married variant is “that’s nice, dear.”
There are a few others the ladies should also get to know:
“I thought we’d try a different route” = “We’re lost.”
“That’s a really nice outfit” = “I’ve done something you won’t like but I’m not ready to tell you about it.”
And special for my house: “I’m going to clean off the work bench” = “I’m going out to the garage to drink beer and watch the Cub game. I do not expect to be disturbed.”
