I’m interested in going home to MY family after work too. Nothing against first responders, but why should the government value my life more cheaply than theirs?

It’s not about value. It’s about the risk posed to the public by a perp willing to kill a LEO. Better the perp never again sets foot outside a jail cell. Unless it’s in a pine box. This civilian has no problem with that at all.

(Was Obama surveilling John Roberts? Might explain a lot.)

And its even my day off. The chances of you getting into a violent situation are probably zero, day to day. For the record, i think rape and murder should be auto DP no matter who the victim is. Next question: did Obama era intimidation kill this officer? I think it did. The emphasis on using single shot, hard to reload, nonlethal weapons and/or just not using your firearm has become ingrained in the police psyche out of fear. Fear.
