“I understand what you describe, but at my workplace that is difficult; when a real worker is abused by a token like that, theyd call in sick when a meeting was scheduled where the token would be left to explain something on her own - and when the real worker returned, the lesson had been learned (not just by the token, but by the other attendees as well).”
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s a Klingonesque level of revenge!!!
“Ive noticed that the tokens hire a bunch of their friends, but only if they are not a threat to the tokens job - they are even less competent, and just grateful to have basically no-show jobs with a paycheck and health insurance./They become the army of skanks from the Mean Girls movie.”
No surprise that those closest to “tribal think” operate like a tribe. And then there’s “safety in numbers”.
Yep.
Sure; they all get glowing evaluations from their boss-friend, and if a problem arises the scapegoat is usually some outside contractor with no way to defend themselves. There is no way to refute the alternate reality they present on paper; they are part of the “post-work” economy, with more than half a dozen allegedly performing the work that had been done by three men when I started there years ago. As long as I can take my foot off the gas to meet the lowered expectations, that is fine with me; I’m getting’ paid!
