One angle often overlooked is that much of this advertising is aimed at the last demographics stupid enough to respond to such blatant propaganda
*************
Absolutely true. About 95% of advertisements on TV have virtually nothing to do with the characteristics, benefits or value of the product. Typically just a bunch of manic people dancing and cavorting around in some sort of childlike euphoric state, implying that you’ll be happy just like them if you buy the product or service.
It seems that the ads are attempting to equate their product with (multicultural) group acceptance. A completely inane and blatantly false premise.
So who falls for such ridiculous nonsense? The low IQ demographic of course. Everyone else sees this mindless drivel for what it is.
I’ve noticed that the local newscasters here are increasingly minorities, but that probably reflects the flight of the Anglos from the NYC metro area. However, it also reflects that same trend; who gets their news from TV anymore? With smartphones, goofy lines like “today’s weather coming up in 10 minutes” sounds like something from the previous century - because it is.
