Been reading up on saving my geraniums through the winter for next year, by hanging them bare root in paper bags. Looks like tomorrow will include a trip to Trader Joe's, where I can get said paper bags, unlike most grocery stores.

Also making sure to keep stupid squirrels from digging up tender plants, as they are in an absolute frenzy this year to bury all their stupid acorns in my garden. We were just remarking today how this year, there seem to be twice as many squirrels as we've ever seen before. I actually staked a wire basket over 3 new baby hostas I got to keep the squirrels from digging them up. These are bold squirrels, which don't even move when you shoo them away, and will scamper within a couple feet of you, ignoring any verbal threats.

That kind of behavior in squirrels might indicate a harsh winter heading your way.
