What if the AirBnB was where he received large sums of cash on behalf of a cartel or drug organization.
He previously had to airplanes, I imagine there is a lot more scrutiny of planes flying in than flying out of this company. Where did he travel to with those planes? Did he freelance or rent out those planes, if so, where did they go? Was he involved in flying cash out of the country? Has is age/health prevented him from continuing to do so, but he still serves as the stateside bagman (he is an accountant) for a drug organization given his long standing relationship? He may have been shooting at the private/charter aircraft as someone here mentioned. Is that his replacement, now serving in the more lucrative role he once had? Was he supposed to deliver cash that he knew would leave on one of these planes? Being a gambler is a very dangerous hobby if your other job is being a bagman for a criminal outfit. Did he gamble away more than his cut and maybe even worse try to win it back? Did he have all the guns with him as he was late with a payment/drop and feared his house might be ransacked?
As for all the guns... I know a former district attorney the exclusively prosecuted drug cases, he’s been in a hundred drug house and seen cash stacked in drawers, what have you. Now he’s a drug crime defense attorney who often receives cash. He keeps large sums in his bedroom drawers. Everyone secretly wants to emulate to the bad guy, the hood, the guy with “juice”. If he’s a bagman for a criminal outfit I could see Paddock collecting whatever is the fashionable gun at any given time.
And...why rent two AirBnB house at once? If he is a bagman for a drug outfit he could never do two deals in the same place. The house could be surveilled and you’d get set up for a robbery during or just after the second deal.
