The Four Lads is one of my favorite groups. Who can resist a song with a name like “Gilly, Gilly, Ossenfeffer, Katzenellen Bogen By The Sea”? I think the first song I heard by them was either “Standin’ on the Corner” or “Istanbul (Not Constantinople)”. Some fun songs, some sweet songs and some for remembering like “Moments to Remember” and “Time after Time”, all done with great harmony. One of the originals is still performing in the present-day version of the group.

We listened to a lot of The Ames Brothers, and Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians. When Mitch Miller started his “Sing Along With Mitch” tv series in 1961, we watched it every week. My Dad loved the old songs they sang, and we bought the albums which had all the lyrics included so we could sing along at home.
