Experienced a soul leaving a body and what may have been a ghost while in Italy. Family has a few ghost stories and I believe something we don’t understand happens from time to time.
Yes, as a child many times over a period of several years from infancy until we moved. Two distinct spirits who each kept to their own part of the house. One young woman often seen on the stairs to the basement and in the basement. The other, a man, upstairs in one of the bedrooms. House was newly built, we were first to live in it.
Ok but I can get spooky sounding voice(s) with a crystal radio set that is poorly demodulating AM radio.
I have not seen a ghost and have no reason to believe any one else has
Went to a Catholic men’s conference and the priest said we can ask God to hold us like a child. Tried it and it was a great and loving experience. God loves us more than we love our own children.
I had a friend, an elderly lady at church who used to cut my hair have a similar experience. She was home one winters night. It was bitter cold and a heavy snow was falling, several inches had fallen and it was still coming down. Her husband had gone to bed and they had no tv or radio in their bedroom so she ruled that out.
She was sitting in her living room next to a window around 11:30pm where she could see the street nearby illuminated from a light in the nearby churches parking lot, in this quiet neighborhood, there was no traffic due to the weather she no radio or tv on because she was reading her Bible and studying her Sunday School lesson at the time. Her heat pump vent was next to her and she heard it kick on as it had several times already that evening but this time she heard a voice coming through the vent. She thought she was going crazy at first and got up and checked around the house, nothing stirring outside in the snow storm, all quite except near that vent. She said she listened to a black man preach a beautiful sermon through that vent. It never happened again.
My great grandparents lived down the hill from us in the 1970’s. We lived on the edge of the mountains and neither of them had ever driven a car and relied on my parents if they needed transportation anywhere. My great grandfather had been sick but was doing much better. One night around 4:00am my Dad woke up out of a dead sleep and turned the lamp on and said Papaw George is sick and needs to go to the hospital, it came to him in his sleep. He had no more spoke the words than the phone rang and it was Mamaw asking my Dad to come get George and take him to the hospital he was very sick.
He never left the hospital, but the evening before he passed my Mom and Dad were in the room with him and Papaw George woke up and started conversing with people at the foot of the bed, no one was at the foot of the bed, he was having conversations, and Dad said, Papaw who’s there? It’s my mother and father, they have come to get me. He passed the next morning.
My wife worked in administration in a rural hospital for nearly fifteen years. She was in finance and at the first of the month, for three or four night she had to work late quite a bit. The area where administration was located was an area where there were old hospital rooms in the 1950’s. Now it was sealed off with heavy doors which were locked when administration closed at 4:30pm.
So essentially she was locked in the administration area while working late and she would hear people walking and talking in the suite area. She would get up and go look and make sure no one was there and no one would be around. Finally she decided I have to get my work done so she would lock her office door and turn her radio up really loud to mask the commotion going on in the suite.

Having read the entire thread, it seems that freepers have described several different and distinct supernatural experiences:
One is that people often describe visitations from loved ones who have passed on, either at the moment of death or shortly after, as a reassurance. These are probably genuine supernatural experiences and not evidence of demon possession, provided that they are unique and the deceased does not make a habit of returning; and that the bereaved do not try to encourage the deceased to keep coming back.With one exception, the ghosthunters, no one on this thread has described trying to contact the dead as a medium, trying to use such souls purposefully to give or deliver messages, or developing a repeated or "familiar" contact with a spirit. Those things would be a abomination to God and dangerous activities best avoided by those who wish to attain eternal life.Another is the near-death experience of witnessing that there is a form of life after this life. This experience has been studied and validated by many clinical witnesses such as medical or hospice persons, and are likely either genuine, or are part of the normal workings of human consciousness at the point of clinical death.
Related to that are the testimonies of the dying in the day(s) before death that they have been speaking with their predeceased relatives or other entities. Again, as above, this is probably not demonic.
Another frequently mentioned esperience is the awareness of a powerful energy at places of great human stress like battlefields, memorials, etc. This seems a common human experience and is not necessarily demonic, although some of the dead may be lost souls unable to pass over completely. Because one can sense these presences is not the same as cultivating a relationship with an entity or entities.
Another is seeing, feeling or hearing the presence of a ghostly figure in a house, office, etc. These are possibly demons or demon-possessed souls who have not made a successful transition to the other side. Some describe fairly benign experiences and some describe a frightening awareness of evil.
And there are a couple of references to ghost hunters who try to record apparitions.

A "familiar spirit" is a demon. Demons serve or prompt people to do evil, and to go against the commands of God. The word "familiar" indicates the person believes him or herselft to have had contact with that entity previously; hence that person is "familiar" with that demon.
Leviticus 20:27: A man also or woman that hath A FAMILIAR SPIRIT, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.God forbids man to have contact with the unseen realm, the spirit realm. It certainly rattled me at the time. I am a Christian and I don’t believe in ghosts. But something moved those things and it wasn’t one of us. We weren’t at the house long at all before leaving for the restaurant, and we remained altogether in the kitchrn/living room area. We left together, and no one suddenly remembered they needed to rush back and use the restroom or anything; we just left. (And anyway, none of us would have known where my father kept the funeral guest registry book; it was a fairly obscure lication.)

Good for you. Yes, I believe they invite people to try to actually communicate with the dead and what they get back is from Satan’s army of demons. Could be one, or more possibly.
If I found one somewhere, yes I’m the guy who would burn it, all of it, including the box. Don’t want that stuff anywhere near me.

In later life, I became a born-again Christian. And I learned that there is one thing the demons fear intensely. The name of Jesus Christ.

My cousins pulled one out but none of us took it seriously. Later they all became born-again Christians (this was early 70’s to late 70’s for their conversion) and I returned to Church in the 1980’s.
I think we were lucky - we clowned around on everything, not taking anything seriously. I don’t even know if it was out even 2 minutes.
But I’d certainly be happy to burn one today ASAP.
I wish I could tell you. To this day I’m not sure. I have a suspicion but I don’t want to speak ill of the dead. I’ll let it go at that.
