Imagine if that “peaceful protest” took the form of wearing a Confederate Flag on your shirt - to work. Am I supposed to believe that is protected speech, and the employer could take no action?
I don’t know of ANYONE saying the players cannot peacefully protest or write articles (like THAT would happen!) or talk about injustice on TV. But not while wearing your employee uniform, on company time, in front of people who paid to see FOOTBALL, not POLITICS.
If I kneel before every customer I meet, raise my fist and shout, “Death to taxes! Free the taxpayer!” before serving the customer, would my employer be required to keep hiring me? If I debate customers on company time, is that “free speech”?
I’m SOOOOO tired of the STUPID!
"Protected speech" applies ONLY to government not violating your freedom of expression. It has NOTHING to so with what a private company may or may not choose to do whether hiring you, keeping you or firing you. That is the company's free choice. The government has NO constitutional say.
Why not have the Vet VFWs burn their flags as part of the openers. That would confuse the heck outta everyone.
