On Sunday evening, the 48 Hours That Roiled the NFL were almost over. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell sat monitoring the second half of the late-window games in the NFLs officiating command center. He took a short break to consider what happened on what one owner told me was the strangest weekend hed seen in his tenure in the league.
The way we reacted today, and this weekend, made me proud, Goodell said. Im proud of our league.

Is Goodell proud of the empty seats and a 10% ratings decrease?
We boycotted the former niners when the Colon took a knee during the National Anthem. In short time that was a boycott of all NFL games due to their lack of cleanup in aisle 69 from the Colon.
This June we cut our Comcast cable and cost ESPN/NFL/Disney a lot of money.
Recently, I cancelled our Sling Orange and Blue and went to Sling Blue as our streaming provider with our internet.
Sling Blue does not carry ESPN nor Disney. So ESP/NFL/Disney has lost any income from us.
Besides saving well over a hundred $’s per month, there is another big benefit as you noted.
My wife and I are spending more good quality time together, and my long honey do list is getting shorter each weekend.
When friends and relatives visit on Sunday afternoon, we talk instead of watching the NFL thugs do their stuff.
Yesterday, our youngest Adult Child visited and prepared an anniversary dinner for us. I told him there were no NFL channels, and he said good.
We enjoyed about 5 hours without the thugs. As he was leaving, he asked me to send a list of things he needed to do to cut his cable and drop the NFL.
Me too.
Thanks C19fan.
As do I, I sufferable prigs.
It’s stunning that the league that could top many holidays for money spent, I’m talking about the Super Bowl, is deliberately shooting themselves in the foot. Pathetic
raiders too sat on their ass and got up only long enough to get it kicked. cut the cord and make owners change their tune, then their puppet president and their employees must follow.
Given the permissive response to political on-field statements, how soon before we see the flag being walked on, burned during the National Anthem? Will players who honor the Anthem be targeted on field? How about the player who dares to make a gesture that means “Blue Lives Matter”? This is a profession that reveres violence, so what will be the league response to politically motivated violence on the field?
No. That will just give the attention whores what they want... attention. Ignore them for the irrelevancy they've become.
FU Roger and FU NFL
Rush said something a few minutes ago that I and many others have been thinking.
Just about everyone just wanted a football game. But once this became political, you are going to forced to pick a side. The NFL and the media will choose the weak kneed ballers because it conforms to their narrative. Trump will side with the SteelBacked because it conforms to his.
Most just want a game, an escape, but now it is political. There is no path out of this that leaves the NFL looking good, and not taking a massive hit.
You may not be interested in a civil war, but you are going to have to pick a side
You gotta serve somebody.
You'll be surprised at how little you miss it. Yesterday, Mrs WBill and I had a nice afternoon walk, while WBill Jr rode his bike all around the park. It was far more fun than parking my butt in front of the TV. Last weekend was spent puttering in the garage. I'm surprised at how much I've accomplished over the past couple of months, without cutting out a huge chunk of time for football.
Last year, pretty much the only football I watched was at social events, all the guys get together, eat things that we shouldn't, have a cold beverage, and so on. Football was an excuse to get together, that's all.
This year was the first year I've not watched anything on opening weekend since I was a (small) kid. No games for me at all so far. IF the guys get together this season (big if), I'll probably go, but for the camaraderie, not the sport.
