My favorite place to fly was Upstairs Business class on a 747. Best seat in the house. Quiet and more private.
I had the opportunity to do that twice (well, four times, roundtrip!) to Hawaii. The company was paying for it thank goodness. I recall when the 747 first came out my dad brought me on a Rotary Club outing to the airport where they gave a tour of the new plane. I was ten, and even though it was the first plane I had ever been in, it sure made an impression.
got quietly soused on Warre’s Porto up there on a Boston-Heathrow flight on BA back in 89. staggered through HM Customs and on to the rental cars (stick shift)..
I got to do that once back in the day - DC to Seattle. Still ranks as one of my best flights. In many ways better than the few first class flights I've had.

too little headroom but did once stretch out on lockers.
Now first class in th nose!
I loved those seats. Seemed better than in the nose.
Back in the 80's I was flying 300-500 thousand miles a year so I had every free gold card upgrade to First Class from every airline that I used.
The lounge in the upper deck was super service and what a view.
The 747 was a smooth riding plane but when we skidded off the runway in Pgh it was crap your pants, scary {no injuries, no major damage} lots of praying and promises made to Jesus {almost all were quickly broken}.
I fly very little today, don't miss the airport hassle, and train travel isn't as bad as a covered wagon.
Since I dumped my passport {been all over the world, both business and vacations} I have no need to fly, but the 747 was/is a great American piece of work.
