The last thing anyone wants in a restaurant is a mascot. No on ever went to or returned to a restaurant for the mascot.

Good food. Friendly staff. Clean place.

Get those three right and you’ll never want for customers.

Go to a Waffle House at 5AM. Friendly and peppy staff. Enriched breakfast. Bathrooms are clean. Half the seats are full, and by 6AM, the place is crammed full.

This place packed 'em in. Sure, the giant head mascot permanently scarred young children, but they had damn good chicken (so I heard).

Pittsburgh's Eat n' Park chain disproves the theorem. For some reason people go gaga for these Smiley Cookies.

I dunno. I used to like the Shoney’s Big Boy mascot. Easy to see that there was a good clean restaurant nearby. (when I was a kid, they were all clean....) I think it was other names than Shoney’s outside of the South, but the Big Boy told you it was basically the same place.

But this Denny’s thing? Ah - no.
