I was in Statesboro when Hurricane Hugo hit. Never seen rain like that before or since. My alma mater, GA Southern, played a championship football game in the middle of that.
A lot of money was involved, it was broadcast on ESPN, there was no way the game wasn't going to happen. It became known as 'The Hugo Bowl'.

I was driving my wife to the hospital thru the remnants of Katrina. Traffic was stopped due to torrential downpour.

I remember that! I had to work that night. I worked at the local prison in Savannah and they had everything set up.
Got to see MOST of the game as the power went out at one point.
They let us go home about 3am.
