Same here. It wasn’t IF the Yanks were going to win the penant. It was WHEN. I grew up in the Bronx in the 50s around 4-5 Miles from Yankee stadium. If you happened to be a Giants or Dodgers fan in that neighborhood. You kept it to yourself.

LOL ... my father was born/raised in Brooklyn and rooted for the Giants. That epitomized his entire life.
I also rooted for the Giants and still do to this day ... except maybe this year :)
