I've never understood bloggers that excerpt. If ya want people to read it. Post it!~
Peace and Grace brother.
You’re a good writer.
For me, 1973 was horrid. My sister was murdered on New Years Day. My father was run down and killed by a drunk driver on Good Friday. The Reds lost to the Mets in the play-offs and we had to move in December away from my school, my friends and the only life I ever knew.
I do not look back fondly on 1973.
I remember the Bette Midler version of that song being very popular.
yup
There is bad and then there is BAD.
Sorry brother
Hope the following years brought you more solace..
Well, it was the year I was conceived. :-P
Yes!
Yellow Ribbon was one of the top songs of the year. It was a big year for Tony Orlando. Bad Bad Leroy Brown was a big hit in summer ‘73, as was McCartney’s My Love.
He thinks he is funny or clever.
He is not.
He just brings negative vibes.
And he is not humble.
Sure, sounds good!
Mine was/is named Sheila. I used to often wonder - if I made the right choice dumping her. Found her by accident about three years ago. Turns out I made an excellent choice. Her life is a complete train wreck. Another woman I told the story too told me it was my fault for leaving Sheila. No, it wasn’t. Preacher’s daughters are doomed from the get go.
I remember 1973. I was 11 y.o. Had my first job working 40 hr.s 6am to 12:30pm for Arty Krause at the Brotherhood of Thieves on Nantucket. After work I’d head to Jetties beach with my friends. I bought a real nice Panasonic portable FM radio at Congdon’s pharmacy. One of my fondest memories is laying at Jetties beach, listening to Seals and Crofts’ Diamond Girl and noticing how some of the girls were =really= attractive in their bikinis. Something I hadn’t noticed so much in previous years.
Thanks, I’ll check it out
Cool, My daughter used to live in Puyallup. It was back in 2002. I live in Northern Ca. I went to visit her and we spent the day in Seattle.
She has since moved to Texas, married and has children. I have never been back there.
Oh, my heart goes out for you.
Reminds me of 1981. My oldest sister was murdered by her husband, I lost my job, my wife and I split up.
I pray things went better for you since.
And the greatest race horse eve, Secretariat, won the triple crown.
I remember watching every race at race game that used water guns tom advance the horses.
It was quite the year in many things.
Something about entering those preteen years when us boys begin noticing the girls.
I remember when I was 10, my older sister had a few good looking girlfriends. They would let me tag along to the beach sometimes in the Summer. The next Summer when I was 12, all of a sudden I realized how beautifully sexy they were.
It has a very whimsical Ray Bradbury feel to it....”Dandle Lion wine” feel to it.
Yom Kippur war....Watergate....our family being evicted at Christmas time...dad jailed....yeah I didn’t like 1973 myself!
