Elephant brought up a point.

If AI will replace us all, why do we keep importing low skilled labor? Why do companies DEMAND that the wall not be built, DACA be made law, and a host of other things?

I am not advocating this model.
Am saying how some would see it.
Most of our “leaders” could care less about the unwashed masses.
With robots in place its just a matter of time before our dear global leaders begin to control populations.
At first, maybe a couple would get paid not to have children.
Even churches will preach not having children is good.
Or, if they have children the government would decide if they are fit to live.
Old people ..forget it ..unless you are useful will no longer get needed care to sustain life.
The transition may take a decade.
At first, it will seem like paradise..
Getting paid not to work.
Or, maybe getting paid to “take a survey” or “watch a tv show” and then comment on it.

In the end the leaders are only interested in people who can maintain the robots, engineers, doctors (although eventually robots will replace doctors, too),breaders, enforcers and a select few of general laborers.
Meanwhile, the population worldwide is being whittled down to tens of millions.

It’s the transition period that is the key.
At first there will be work O’plenty.building robots..testing robots.
Only those that excell will be guaranteed a postion.
The rest, over time, will be phased out.
But early on, like I said, will think it’s paradise..getting paid to complete questionaires or watch tv shows and comment about the show.
Meanwhile, the leaders are compiling information on who is fit live in their automated UTOPIA.
