So she is planning to step down on April 29, 2021, but the Abomination of Desolation occurs on April 2, 2021, so I think the gesture will be an empty one.

Under the British system, the Regency Act is the means by which a Monarch, who is either of minor age or due to age or other infirmity is unable to discharge their duties of office, can have an official "stand in" to take over these duties. So this scenario is not unlikely.

I don’t believe it. I think the Queen would have stepped down when the Queen Mother passed away if she were going to do it. She realizes what a nut-job Charles is.
