I received an UMCOR notice about Hurricane Harvey as a committee chair in my UMC congregation. Far down page 2 under Important Information was a warning that they do not accept items for their cleanup bucket program that have any national symbols on them. You are advised to cut off or blot out any American flags that appear on the donated items or their packaging.
So I am all in with Samaritan’s Purse. They’ll tarp roofs, muck out the house, tear down the drywall, then return to rebuild once the house has dried out, and pray with you besides.
