I’m no big fan of his, but don’t understand the bashing here. He’s supposed to turn his church and facilities into a shelter and let it be damaged as the Superdome was in New Orleans?? I don’t get this. No fan of this guy but don’t get why he’s being bashed over this flood.

The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod - which built 6,000 houses after Katrina for victims, already had hundreds of volunteers in place on the ground before the storm made landfall.

No doubt there are numerous other churches doing the same.

Our little church opens its doors during storm events so people can use bathrooms and make calls and catch some sleep.

While I would say it's premature to criticize, it looks like others are better prepared. Oh, look... here's two churches and a VFW Post [all of which have fewer resources] that did open their doors and have probably been on the emergency response list for years :

Fayette County residents along river told to leave. Officials have expanded their evacuation order to all Fayette County residents living along thre Colorado River, amid projections that the river will crest at 49 feet overnight. The city has opened three shelters: Second Baptist Church on Von Minden Street, St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church on Walnut Street and VFW Post 5254 off the La Grange Texas Fairgrounds
