Lodge is the best. I have one skillet that’s probably 40 years old and another one 20 years.

I usually clean mine with a paper towel and always keep it oiled down with vegtable or canola oil. Spray entire skillet and wipe down with a paper towel.

They can last a thousand years if properly kept.

Lodge is the best.

With respect ... the best was Wagner made in Sidney OH. But they've been out of business for decades. I still see them at antique shops.

Lodge is good, but old Griswold skillets are the best. They have a superb smooth interior finish. The Griswold Manufacturing company has an interesting history. The founder, Matthew Griswold, was twice elected as a Republican to Congress, sitting from March 1891 to March 1893, and from March 1895 to 1897.

One #10 GRISWOLD, one GRISWOLD pancake cooker, an unlabeled #8 LODGE. These three mom bought before I was born 71 years ago. Cooked biscuits last week in it. Wife cooked corn bread in it two weeks ago.

Cooked potatoes and eggs and a roast a not long ago.

I also have several Wagners to go along with them.

You can tell the unlabeled LODGE because of the stove “ring” on the bottom with three gaps in it.

Early ones are better because they were very smooth on the inside, not rough like today’s LODGE or Very Rough like those made in China today.
Then there are the dutch ovens, but that is another story.
