Toutonghi used to baby-sit President Obama when she was neighbors with his mother.
Toutonghi was living in Seattle at the time, in the early 1960s. Her husband was going to school at Seattle University, and she was a stay-at-home mom with their 18-month-old daughter.
They lived in a three-story house that had been converted into three inexpensive apartments. Toutonghi and her family lived in the basement apartment, and Ann Dunham Obamas mother lived in the apartment directly upstairs.
It was a tough situation, as far as I knew, she said. She was 19, shed promised her parents that she was going to finish college, even through shed married. Im presuming her parents were paying for the schooling nobody had any money at the time.

That's just for the record, TWICE, the babysitter seems to have told an interviewer her daughter, (Gabrielle Marie) was 18 months of age at the time. Later, a freeper showed the birthdate of Mary's daughter. It was in July, 1959. And if one adds 18 months to July, 1959, the answer to when the babysitting took place, is January, 1961. Both Charlette Le Fevre, who found the original entry for ANNA OBAMA, and the Redoubt Reporter, assume ANNA OBAMA was Stanley Ann Dunham, however, had they enquired a little more about the age and birth date of Mary's daughter, they would have realised that Stanley Ann Dunham would hardly have had a child for Mary to babysit in JANUARY 1961. THAT child would have been conceived nine months earlier in MAY 1960.
I'm posting that purely for the record. Feel free to check the dates.
January 28, 2009, Charlette Le Fevre writes:
Mary Toutonghi who now lives in Soldatna Alaska, (2) recalls Barack as ³a really alert baby, very happy and a good size². She does not remember him ever crying (although she adds she is sure he likely did but does not remember any undue fussing). She recalls as best she can the dates she baby sat Barack as her daughter was 18 months old and was born in July of 1959 and that would have placed the months of baby sitting Barack in January and February of 1962.
AND ADDS THE FOLLOWING EDIT, WHEN SHE REALISES HER MISTAKE:
[Note: 9/3/09: I believe Mary's daughter was older than what she remembered which would account for the age discrepency].
Because, strange as it may seem, no one noticed that if you add 18 months to her daughter's birthdate, you get January 1961, NOT January 1962. But Corsi did notice, and when he contacted Mary in Alaska, she corrected herself and said that child was seven months of age in early August. Which once again, came out at January 1961.
Furthermore, LOL...had the daughter been OLDER than 18 months at the time, that would put the birth the child she babysat back even further.
PS. No need for any replies.
I have never paid five seconds’ worth of attention to Toutonghi. Nobody remembers such details after ~45 years. I tried it myself. I tried to recall the year and the season of an important event from ~45 years ago. Couldn’t do it.
Toutonghi either misremembered or else lied. If the latter, she did it to try to help Obama but botched her dates instead. Not so hard to do, if you’re not a numbers person.
In any event I pay zero attention to Toutonghi. She’s an unreliable source.
You might be interested to know that Cindy Pratt knew Stanley Ann both before and after the Seattle hiatus. Before, they lived in the same house (1960). After, Stanley looked Cindy up and showed her the baby. Cindy was aghast at the scandal of SA parading around with a mixed race baby.
I don’t have the link. I’ve posted it before, but failed to find it this time with a quick search. I don’t have the time to dig further at the moment. If I come across it in the future I’ll post it.
