My wife was a little upset with me when I said that kids today need to toughen up after one of the kids in our local high school killed themself because they were being bullied.
She felt I was giving the bully a pass.
I had to explain that I was not, but rather, the death is the responsibility of the person doing it as well as the parents/guardians that did not teach the person to be tougher, consider the source, etc.
When you live in a world of precious snowflakes, expect a lot of suicides.
Unfortunately young people committing suicides is an age-old story.
Yes you are right that kids should be taught to be tougher and not fall for snowflake victimhood propaganda, but unfortunately there always have been and always will be troubled teenagers who get so worked up over slight setbacks (sometimes it’s grades, sometimes it’s boy/girl-friend) that they take the ultimate dark way out.
