The lioness survived but will probably never come 10 feet close to a hippo again.

Don’t screw with hippos.
That hippo shook that lion like a rag doll.
Your link attempted to out a virus into my phone.
Curiosity (looked like a young lone female lioness sniffing to see if the reclined hippo was alive or not) sure almost killed that cat.
Even crocodiles don’t mess with hippos.
That must be one hungry lion. I’ve heard that Hippos are by far some of the most dangerous animals in Africa, surpassing even Rhinos.
There is video on YouTube showing lions winning against a hippo.
Hippos kill more people in Africa than any other animal.
Mine as well.
It doesn’t look like the lion was “hunting”. It looks like it thinks that the hippo is an easy “dead meal”, and when she recognizes that the hippo is alive, she turns away, but it’s too late and the hippo wants to make sure the lion gets the message to not do it again.
I had a ESET warning on it....
I too think it wandered over there to explore what was lying so still..is it alive or is it dead? It did try to leave!

I doubt that. Lions are hard-wired to attack any potential prey they think they can get the better of. That lion was not in attack mode, and it certainly would attack a hippo as part of a coordinated pride attack. It would just be very careful about how it did so.

Recent discovery is Hippos are predators as well....have been found eating animals they've killed, where once believed they only foraged for grass etc... Proved otherwise to the surprise of many.
Hippo eating meat from Elephant....
Hippos teeth (tusks) are the hardest Ivory of all animals....one bite can kill..
They are also carnivors and grass eaters....where most thought they just foraged for grass etc.
They will also kill baby hippos ...when a new Male Hippo takes over the group..he will kill all the baby Hippos of the former leader.
Not a good idea.
ouch! Aren’t hippos the #1 killer in Africa?
