I’m white. My great uncle did some research and it seems some of my ancestors had slaves.
Doesn’t affect me one single bit.
I have ancestors that fought in the Civil War. Some were Union some were Confederate (and some of these were brothers).
I lost two great great grandfathers in the Civil War. If there was a debt owed, it was paid in full by their blood.
Most whites in the south did not own slaves.
