Unseasonably cool weather likely to hold through middle of August
ABC17 ^ | August 1, 2017

Posted on 08/06/2017 2:39:47 AM PDT by SMGFan

The official start to fall is still seven weeks away, but as of late it feels like it has arrived early. Temperatures for the most part have been in the lower 80s across Mid-Missouri, following a brutal heat wave that impacted Mid-Missouri in July. The cool weather has been welcoming and there are signs that we'll see even cooler weather track into the region.p Thanks to a series of rare cold fronts this summer, temperatures have struggled to climb back to average in Mid-Missouri. That changes as we head into Wednesday, as temperatures will moderate back towards seasonable averages. Average highs for the first week of August is in the upper 80s, with lows in the mid 60s. The seasonable trend will be very brief in nature, as another rare summer cold front will track through the Midwest and bring us the coolest weather we've seen in quite some time.

“Meanwhile the West is breaking high temp records every day.”
Central Texas is having early cooler than normal temperatures not normally occurring until September. The doves are a month early and are showing up in large numbers. Again, a month early.

Interesting. Haven’t seen a dove around here since the end of June. Usually have some hanging around the house.

Same here in Central Ohio. I've turned my AC off and can't ever remember doing that in August.

I guess that we have gone from Global Cooling (in the 70's) to Global Warming to Climate Change to back to Global Cooling. We have come full circle.

Scientists tell us we had the warmest July on record because ...climate change.

They'll tell us this abnormal coolness is...climate change

In October, they'll tell us that this was the warmest August on record ever because...climate change.

We are cover up with dove here in West TX. Mourning Dove, Whitewings and Eurasians are thicker than I’ve ever seen them. Just our luck a cold front will hit before opener and push them south. The Eurasians don’t seem to migrate like the Morning and Whitewings do in fact they and the Whitewings have just about pushed the Mourning Dove out of the area.

Around here it is not unusual to see Eurasians in the dead of Winter. In Nevada they aren’t classified as game so it’s open season all year.

I’ve lived in Mo all my life. For the first time ever on a August 5th (yesterday) I woke up and decided I had to wear a long sleeve shirt for the day.

The jet stream is bringing down cold air from Canada. Wait a few days and the heat will return with winds from the West.

I haven’t seen it. The last three summers have been the coolest on average than I have seen my whole life living in the hottest part of the southwest. Spotty and occasional maybe but not as an average. It’s a chilly 74 right now, for here that is cold for this time of year.

Here in N Tx not exactly cool but not the dreaded scorch either we often get this time of year. Plus we had some spotty rain with more predicted in the coming days here in August typically the driest month on average for this region. Climate change can be a good thang. Yay.

I love it when I have the opportunity to break out one of my favorite sweatshirts and be comfortable wearing it all day long. I might even wear it to bed and get up the next morning in it without caring why it was the best choice, however ‘out of season’ it seemed to be.

Whats with all of the fires in Oregon? Global warming, global cooling, Oregon not getting enough rain?

And only in Oregon.
