That's a great idea, if the client is set up for an external antenna. I was going to ask what type of client you are using? Is it integrated, like with a laptop. A card, like you would have with a desktop? Is it a USB client, and if so, have you tried repositioning the module? Sometimes that can help. If it DOES take an external antenna, I think the idea of an antenna project is a great one; I'd give that a try first.
