I collect items from the early 1900's-through the 50's including pin-up art. The women portrayed on bomber nose-art, postcards, advertising, etc. were not fat or even slightly overweight.

Where the idea that these plus-size models represent what used to be the norm for the desirable female form came from is beyond me. It's demonstrably false but for a few exceptions i.e. the occasional "burlesque" performer.
