~OR~... a person could just decide to not give
a ruddy rubber rat’s rump about any of it and
deny them not only the money from PPV or tickets
but the very headspace that they seem to be
demanding of this poor tormented sports addict.

Maybe I'm a little oversensitive here but I'm catching a few negative vibes from this article. It's probably just my imagination.

When you have nothing to sell, sell the racism, sell the hate.

That's a fair working description of the politics of the Democrat party for quite some time now. It works more often than it should.

The WWE has had this shtick down for decades now, only everyone in the crowd and in the ring knows it isn't for real. This is worse, because the audience apparently isn't quite that sophisticated. Think about that one for a minute.

Will Leitch, for those who haven't heard of him, was in some way involved with Gawker, an on-line site much loved by many young MSM-types, sued into oblivion for being just a bit too edgy.

He seems to have something on his mind other than boxing in this piece, but I can't quite make out what is actually troubling him.

Well, we just watched Jordan Spieth give us some wonderful sporting moments this weekend.

ESPN decided to spend the whole morning talking about Kyrie Irving, instead, but the British Open did happen. :)

True. But golf isn’t a sport.

If you can’t be an athletic supporter, then wear one.

McGregor resorted to racial taunts and Mayweather called McGregor names implying that he’s gay. That’s what it apparently takes to hype this clown show. Anyone who would pay to watch this farce deserves to be ripped off.

When you sign up for life as a sports fan, you are knowingly introducing darkness and moral complication into your life

This piece fails from the beginning.

I happened to catch his post-win audio on Rush on my way to work...I wish I’d have been so humble at 23 yrs old. Gave more credit to his caddy than to himself.

He has good parents...and I’m no golf fan.

I’m a combat sports fan and I agree completely.

Shut your mouth, get in the ring and let your hands do the yapping.

And if you win or lose, be humble and show some flipping respect.

One thing that bugs me is this hatred of hate, as if it’s the worst thing ever.

Dark Lords of the Sith and Conservatives understand that there are many things worth hating!

I agree and I hate it. It’s almost as bad as the intolerence of intolerence.

The breathless, feminine liberal indignation seems a bit much.

Someone should tell the author: If you don’t want to follow sports...then don’t.

Geez.

Sports is, in its essence, entertainment.

MacGregor/Mayweather is obviously very entertaining, or they wouldn't both stand to make $100 million each from the event.

So the hand-wringing is totally ridiculous...
