I used to have a turtle who knew the sound of my feet when I would walk up the stairs at a certain time every day, after work. He knew he’d get fed, and would jump off his rock and swim around, with his face against the glass. At other times of day, he’d just stay on his rock despite my weight coming up the stairs.
I have a little sparrow girl now, who chatters every time I walk past the door to her room. She doesn’t chatter when my husband walks by that door.
They “know” you in more ways than just through sight - they know your footprints and vibrations; like a horse senses when its rider turns his head to look left or right...
Funny! But isn’t it amazing!!??
An old boss of mine had some health issues; but after 20 years he went to get his flying license. He got started on it, but with the regulation manual at 4-inches thick compared to the 1/2-inch he had flown with, he quickly realized that at 72-years old it wasn’t going to be feasible.
His son got him Microsoft Flight or whatever - and he would spend hours doing that. He would fly old routes that he had done in the past - he loved it.
“And if I have to go to the bathroom - I just hit the pause button and don’t need to worry about it. And I can even fly under the Columbia River Bridge and not get in trouble for it!”
LOL!
But it IS amazing. Ever since the Internet came along - and even before that - people were always saying that the world was getting ‘smaller’ all the time.
To me, the world just gets bigger, every day! I see so many things, encounter so many people, and LEARN so much more, than anyone in my position could ever have done 20 or 30 years ago.
I have critters and people to look after; and while I enjoyed travel somewhat when I was young, I always realized something: whenever I came home, what I had seen and experienced was always more real in my MIND than it had been when I was there looking at it!
I really like to stay home now, and take care of things. But daily, I’m amazed by the resources that are at my fingertips ;-)

Canada replaced their $2 bill with a coin in 1995
Yes, the ‘Toonie’ ;-)
We still have a 2-Dollar bill, but they’re hard to come by. My Father used to bring them home from the racetrack, and I always keep a few around. It’s kind of fun to baffle the convenience store folks with them now and then - but a lot of trouble for the fun :-)
when did they steal our flag? and why did they have to rename it? and what else have they been stealing? Where are the reporters on this?

Must have been yet another thing that those pesky Russians had a hand in.

Grace Kelly’s family had to present the prince of Monaco a dowry of two million dollars before the wedding could take place.
