LAS VEGAS (FOX5) - Abuse and neglect detectives are investigating the death of a toddler at a resort south of the Strip Saturday afternoon.
Metropolitan police responded to a call of an injured child at the Grandview Resort on 9940 South Las Vegas Boulevard at 4:50 p.m. Officers located a 3-year-old boy suffering from heat-related injuries, according to Lt. Carlos Hank.
Emergency medical personnel transported the child to St. Rose Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Lt. Roger Price of the Special Victims Unit said the parents of the boy realized he had been left in the car in the parking lot of the resort for over an hour after arriving at the hotel, but it was too late.
"Any amount of time in that environment can be deadly to a child," Price said.
Apparently, the parents were visiting Las Vegas as part of a large family reunion that brought together family members from across the country and lost track of the child.
Price added that about a dozen children were part of the gathering.

“I have thought that parents who have to work rather than parent,, just cannot bond to their children same as stay at home moms and dad home after work families.?????”
What on earth does this have to do with this post?
.
Me either
When my children were growing up I lost track of them ....NEVER. just pure stupidity.
It was in the mother where all that was diminished.
right. even better.
No source. It is my wife’s opinion.
She is remarkably intuitive about these things.
While I think the % is probably lower than that, I go along with her in saying that most of you would be surprised at how many are not really “accidents”.
“No source. It is my wifes opinion.”
You posted an opinion as fact?
That creates confusion.

Every automobile should be equipped with an alarm - much like the buzzer that reminds you your headlights are on - when you turn the engine off.
Retrofits for older models.
Before allowing parents to take a newborn out of the maternity hospital - they should be required to prove they have a ‘safe’ vehicle for transporting the child.
Sounds like over regulation - but the hyperthermia/auto death of one child is one too many.

It IS over regulation——we are drowning in nanny state laws.
.
When my son was about three and a half, I had a newborn girl. I hated shopping with him, because he thought it was absolutely hysterical to hide in the clothing racks, prompting me to panic.
When you have more little ones than you have hands, it is not easy.
****we are drowning in nanny state laws****.
drowning or burning alive??
Autos are already required to have safety features and the one I believe which would save lives of child passengers - or even elderly parents in a passenger back seat makes sense.
Children and the elderly often fall asleep while the car is in in transit and is likely the reason some drivers forget them.
The mother must have been on a hot streak at the casino.
I hate gambling. It is a tax on the poor and stupid; IMO.
“The mother must have been on a hot streak at the casino.”
Nasty comment———what about the father, was he on a “hot streak” too?
.
My kids were 18 months apart, and you bet I carried the baby and kept the older one on a leash when we traveled without their dad. Can you imagine chasing an active two-year-old through the airport and out to the taxi stand while lugging a thrashing 10-month-old athlete?
But it may not have been a good idea in the long run, as now, decades later, the kid on the leash has become a stark raving liberal. (No, not running thru the streets.)
“”””Every automobile should be equipped with an alarm...””””
Exactly how would you accomplish that?
So even though the vast majority of people have no use for such an alarm everyone who buys a new car will have to pay for that alarm.
Even though the vast majority of people that such an alarm would useful to have would never be prompted to action by the alarm, everyone will have to pay for that alarm.
This is the same type of thinking that gave use ObamaCare plans with birth control coverage for Seniors and Single males.
If you think this is a good and useful product, invent it, market it and maybe somebody will buy it.
But for those of us that value freedom please dont suggest that the government mandate its use.
I dont want to pay another for a product that I will never want or use because some do-gooder thinks that if it Saves one life its worth it.

What MORON would leave a 3 year old ALONE, ANYWHERE?
Forget that it was hot. Would any of you leave your 3 year old alone in the car out of your sight?.
Wouldn’t you worry that someone might kidnap them? Hurt or KILL them?
This is beyond irresponsible. Accident????? WHAT????? They purposely left the child alone in the car. Hot or not, locked or not.
Just the act of leaving a small child unsupervised should be a crime with SEVERE repercussions. Tough fines, jail or both. Let’s save some of these kids from their MORON parents.
That you have to ask what does parental bonding have to do with post about parents leaving child in hot car, makes my mind boggle.
Rally?
Thanks. Food for thought.
