I Googled “large inflatable life rafts” and found only one that bore the slightest resemblance to the ones used by the African immigrants. It cost $18,000, and was NOT designed to accept any kind of engine.

I am always amazed by the posts and also the incredible posts written by Matt who posts as Travis Mcgee here on FR. I most recommend his three book "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" series, but other writings are excellent too. I only post this because I think he is an excellent social observer and also a great writer.
