The US is not the only market these days.
That’s one of the problems with Hollywood. They can be “oh so politically correct” lose money in the USA. Those PC anti-American, anti-white, anti-Christian insults don’t have much meaning outside our borders, in fact they might help. So that’s where they make their money - OCONUS!
Lose it domestically being “artistic” make it back OCONUS.
The US is not the only country making movies these days either. There are some good productions from other countries that aren’t the same 5 cookie-cutter plots, and even their domestic fare has broaden beyond the 3 plots they used to make.
