Curious: how far back does this extend in history? To the Armada?

If we find an ancient Roman ship, does it belong to Italy?

That’s the tricky part about unearthing a treasure horde. Much like what caused it’s sinking, you’d better be prepared to defend it, whether it is from thieves or governments. And really there is no difference.
