They are known as Boogers in the South. I live in the mountains of southeast Kentucky and have heard stories from people over the years. Some are believable, some I totally discount.

I live in the mountains and can say I have had some strange things happen around my house at night. Most can be explained and I am not saying it was a booger, but what happened made no sense whatsoever and if it were a person they came damned close to dying.

I grew up at the foot of a mountain not far from the Blue Ridge, and attended university in the Smokies. The only thing that I’ve ever had happen, and it’s happened several times, has been a very intense sensation of being watched while alone in the woods. Primal, hair standing up on the back of your neck sort of thing. I’ve never seen anything out of the way in that regard though, not even unusual tracks.

Survivor Man had a short season where he would go out in the woods looking for Bigfoot. Would meet up with a local Bigfoot hunter and then listen to their stories, set up cameras and head out for a week by himself.

He was always looking for the more “reasonable” answer that it was a bear, etc. Many times he wouldn’t agree with the local Bigfoot hunter on the various explanations.

But a few times things would happen that he couldn’t account for with a bear, squirrel, etc. So I think it opened his mind. Interesting show.
