If the the GOPe picks up seats in the midterm then I think the dims are in real profound trouble.

The Democrat party is already in profound trouble. They've been in steep decline since 2010, when they began losing races at an accelerated rate. Over a thousand Democrat seats have been lost to the Republicans since then, and the Dems now find themselves at their lowest point of power since the 1920s. One hundred years of electoral gains on their side were wiped out during the Obama years.

If they weren't afflicted with such a severe case of Reality Defiance Disorder, they would have already tacked toward the center to stop the bleeding, but the sickness is just too strong. I fully expect them to continue doubling down on the alien leftist politics that got them where they are today. They'll go down to even worse defeat, screaming, "Obama Ackbar!!"

“Someone correct me, but wasn’t there one election recently (NY, I think) where the left turned a red seat blue? Perhaps it was a state legislative seat? Anyway, the left was crowing about that to no end several months ago.”

I kind of remember that. I think you’re right, it was a state legislation election.

The Democratic Party

It's Democrat...

Democrat party.

There's nothing democratic about them.

Actually, I don’t think it’s the “far left” that won’t let them get rid of Pelosi; it’s the money. Pelosi is the gatekeeper for big California Democratic donor class. Nobody gets elected without a war chest, and so most of the House Democratic Caucus probably owes her.

The Dems will never figure this out until they figure out why Trump won, and they'll never figure that out until they admit that he won. Which they haven't done yet even five six months into the first Trump administration.

Largely these are ideologues squabbling over posturing, as if posturing is all there is to politics. Eight years of past is a giant anchor that they don't even recognize as being chained to their collective ankle. They will never admit that foreign policy (especially in the Middle East) under 0bama has been harmful, never admit that 0bamacare has hurt the working class, never admit that environmental policies have hurt labor, never admit that racism and misandry have hurt their party. And if they won't admit it they won't understand where the votes went.

“If the D’s would provide a true social conservative, Pro-America, free market, pro-gun alternative to some RINO’s, they might actually win.”

You mean pro-abortion also, right?

“It would appear that the Democrats are now paying for their sin of underestimating the intelligence of the American people . . . and they aren’t buying their fake bill of goods any longer.”

Yes.

But the Dems truly think they are underestimating the stupidity of the American people.

They think all this is happening because Americans are stupid.

In short, the Democrats are starting to realize what their political party has become: they are now effectively the denizens of the fictional capital of Panem from the Hunger Games novel trilogy. And that's a comparison they certainly don't want!

“Without the Establishment media, academia, and Hollywood, the Left has nothing.”

They also, unfortunately, have much of the country’s business community...witness Target, Amazon, Kellog, Progressive Insurance etc. At present, the MSM is holding fast and shows no capacity for objectivity even though there is some evidence that people are no longer buying what they are selling. Same is true of Hollywood and education. But there is a way to go before any of those leftist institutions can be trusted to foster good will, virtue, common values and cooperation.

I think what's happening is that a lot of big corporations are now realizing that Pelosi and Schumer are getting WAY too old. It's likely that both will be serving their last terms in Congress after a lot of prodding from the business side of Powers That Be (PTB).

A major point to consider about Congressman Vela’s interview. It was stated that, “Pelosi is too toxic, Rep. Filemon Vela of Texas, first elected to Congress in 2012, told Vox on Wednesday. ‘To me it’s real simple: The perception of leader Pelosi is so negative that we are not going to be able to walk away from that,’ Vela said.”

This congressman knows that the anti-American policies embraced by the liberal party democrats are not acceptable to regular working class Americans. He and others think that by merely changing the ‘face’ of the party’s leadership they can fool those ordinary everyday Americans into supporting democrats again.

The problem for the democrat party of liberal, socialist, thugs is that since the nomination and subsequent election of President Trump their masks have been thrown off and now everyone can see who and what they really are. It runs straight through the entire gamut of the democrat’s political elites, hacks, and their spokespersons in the national media. (Antifa, illegal immigration and other protestors are just the democrat’s useful idiots – dangerous yes – but idiots just the same.)

An important message for the republican party going forward is to Point Out and HAMMER HOME the truth that you do not get any change in the anti-American policies of the democrats by merely changing the face of the party anymore than one can actually change the spots on a leopard. Essentially the leopard remains who and what it is, just as the democrat left hates a free America, no matter who their spokesperson is.

The Who said it well when they sang, “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss; and we won’t get fooled again.”

Good points, friend. For me it’s too early to write the epitaph for the left. It’s only been 6 months since the 8 year rule of the most radical leftist ever to be president finally ended. It felt like 20 years. I want to see that they are no longer a viable national party and for me 2018 will be the test. If we are able to shut down the fraud I think they will be relegated to a regional party. Be forewarned: they will not go gently into the night. That is when the real fun will begin.

Do you understand basic modern English usage?

Socially conservative encompasses pro-life and pro-traditional marriage.

Why would Dems vote for such a candidate?

You make no sense.

I suspect you’re right. And I hope so.
I also think the American people are beginning to turn back the tide on the liberal-lunacy.

But...and this is my point...if the Repubs fail to provide a positive message, strong leadership and demonstrate that conservative values are radically better than liberal ‘values’, then this country will remain in serious trouble. Trump, IMO, gets significant credit for cracking the egg and showing the Repubs that you have to fight hard. That message needs to sink down a lot deeper and current GOP leadership is simply not up to the task.

You are right. The Republicans have got to learn to rule *as Republicans*, and not as the junior partners of the “progressive” elite.

It is our job and/or fate to pressure them to save the Republic and the Constitution.

My point, which was lost on you, is that D’s (especially the rural variety) were not always so radical. Larry McDonald, D-GA, used to be one of the most conservative pro-Constitution reps in the House. My second point, which most here ignore (I guess it is thought that posting here is more effective?), is that we could all do something meaningful for the future of the Republic: get our children out of the socialist govt school aka Bernie Sanders factories.

Yes.

You wrote:”If the D’s would provide a true social conservative, Pro-America, free market, pro-gun alternative to some RINO’s, they might actually win”

I’m just wondering why someone like that would run as a Dem?

Look up Bob Conley who ran as a D from SC vs Lindsay Graham. IIRC, he ran well to the right of LG, who basically said that Conley was too conservative.

Look up a calendar.

Again, what would it benefit?

A candidate like that would have no reason to run as a dem unless they had other Dem beliefs - like being pro-abortion. Which you say you don’t mean.

Explain how this would be good?
