Obama held Iftars, Jefferson did not.

"The occasion was the presence of a Tunisian envoy to the United States, Sidi Soliman Mellimelli, who had arrived in the country just the week before, in the midst of America’s ongoing conflict with what were then known as the Barbary States.

And the reason for the dinner’s later-than-usual start was Mellimelli’s observance of Ramadan, a holy month for Muslims in which observers fast between dawn and dusk. Only after sunset do Muslims break their fast with a meal, referred to as an iftar. Jefferson’s decision to change the time of the meal to accommodate Mellimelli’s observance of Ramadan has been seized on by both sides in the 21st-century debate over Islam more than 200 years later."

Jefferson changed the time of a dinner so that a muslim could eat at the White House for a meeting. That is not an Iftar. I work all day, and sometimes get home so late the sun is down. I'm starved to death so I eat late. That is not a f*&%ing Iftar.

As for that 200 year old invite from Jefferson – there wasn’t much accomodation made at all as reflected here . . .

Monticello.org: Dealings with Mellimelli, Colorful Envoy from Tunis

May as well remember this muhammedan cretin as “smelli-smelli” since

” guards had to be posted outside his lodgings to turn away the curious”

due to his

“generous use of scented rose oil “

olfactory masque easing fulfillment of his

“. . .request for “concubines” as a part of his accommodations . . .”

As for the sunset dinner with Jefferson . . .

Jefferson’s invitation to the President’s House on December 9 changed the time of dinner from the usual “half after three” to “precisely at sunset.”

Northeast ‘Dec. 7th Earliest Sunset Of The Year’

This would put the time of sunset, on December 9th, 1805 at 4:46pm, a total of one hour sixteen minutes later than usual. Hardly a remarkable alteration considering the lack of technology for travel, preparation and presentation of a state sponsored dinner.

Regardless, Jefferson eventually came to his senses and took care of business with America’s First War on Terror @ The Halls of Tripoli...a fact which President Trump could reiterate/celebrate patriotically instead.
