I have one laptop that I use for work. Have to have it for travel. (I also have a hand me down tablet that is rarely used.)

Every other computer that I own is a full sized tower with easy access to everything. I like being able to perform my own upgrades and repairs. I buy $400 to $600 systems and build from there.

A $2k diposable computer? I ain’t that stupid.

The home brew mid tower (or bigger) is still my go to computer. I have a nice laptop and an iPad which I use, but the massive storage, RAM and video capabilities of the desktop, along with the big screen and my favorite keyboard and mouse (Logitech K520) make the desktop my favorite. There's nothing like it for games, big spreadsheets, big databases and as a base station for iTunes.

Note: I change my own iPad and iPhone batteries as well.
