If you've ever had an inexplicable love for a song that's just strange, post a link to it here. Should be amusing and entertaining for a Saturday night.
Johnny crawford - Greensleeves
FReeper FReeper bo beeper
Banana fana fo feeper
Fe fi for feeper
FReeper!
Here it is in high definition accompanied by footage from “Return Of The Living Dead 3” (warning, possibly upsetting imagery):
D.O.A. - Bloodrock
Most people would attribute this song to Pete Seeger, but it’s actually her song:
Malvina Reynolds - Little Boxes
From the television series “The Rifleman,” Mark McCain (Johnny Crawford) sings to Old Tony (Stefan Schabel) and Lorrie (Karen Sue Trent), episode 168, “Old Tony,” first airing April 8, 1963:
Johnny Crawford - Greensleeves
FWIW,
As a big Belew fan I would play this for my daughter when she was 9 years old on the way to school. She would sing along.
Adrian Belew: Oh Daddy

I would also play
The Cranberries - Ode To My Family

Polvo - Exploded Drawing
That track Street Knowledge reminds me of Iggy Pop, which is cool.
It’s funny, looking for, or recalling, “Weird songs” that others may enjoy and at the same time seeking something that’s produced well enough to be enjoyable without being popular.
I’m sorry, but I have to share this Belew tune.

Yes, I am familiar with that. Delightful. I also like the live version:

He always looks like he’s having more fun than anyone. A real gift to make music.
I was literally going to say the same thing.
I saw him live at the old 9:30 club in D.C. doing that song among others.
It was the middle of August and 90 degrees outside and at least 120 inside.
Brutal
Amazing show nonetheless.
That was awesome, lol. Here’s one with a totally different sound but all the vintage pinup posters reminded me of it. I tend to ignore Fred Schneider’s caterwauling and just listen to the wacky harmonies and very punk groove, and watch the excellent hotrod “porn” scroll past:
B52’s - Devil In My Car
Ricky Wilson was something else.
Very cool! The old guy is just so effortless and relaxed, and so wry. I note his reference to a certain popular audience participation movie with a strong cult following in the lyrics, and it’s definitely weird, so I thought I’d throw it up here:
The Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack - Dammit, Janet
It’s a pity what that insipid “Glee” show has done to so many great old movie tunes, my niece thinks they’re all actually from there, which irritates me to no end.
She thinks she missed the train to Mars, she’s out back counting stars
Hum - Stars
An epic jam from one of the more overlooked bands of the 90’s. The only exposure most would have had would be courtesy of one episode of Beavis & Butthead, huh-huh huh-huh.
Danke Shoen ~~~ Wayne Newton
Born Free ~~~ Matt Monro
From a live performance recorded in 1968, sounding for all the world like a higher pitched KD Lang and breaking out the Michael Jackson dance moves before Michael Jackson ever did, here’s...
Wayne Newton - Danke Shoen
From a live performance first broadcast on the BBC in 1974:
Matt Monro - Born Free
More Ricky Wilson era B52’s with a great, spacey little CGI video somebody worked up for it. The lyrics are repetitious, consisting entirely of the title, however listen to that guitar:
B52’s - 53 Miles West Of Venus
You can never go wrong with the B-52’s and weird.
A huge fan here.
I like some of their older live stuff.
Not as weird now as it was back then.
The B-52’s - Planet Claire - 11/7/1980 - Capitol Theatre

Then there’s this;
Romeo Void - Never Say Never

It’s very hard to find truly weird music that has gone under the radar and is actually good.
Call it weird or just different, but I can’t help myself when it comes to this band, the raw talent and lyrics.
