I don't know if the allegations are true. However, the political system sometimes goes after B or C list celebrities or lower level politicians to demonstrate the supposed fairness of justice. So James Comey prosecutes Martha Stewart for at best sketchy stock trades a decade ago. The same man whitewashed Hillary Clinton, compared to whom Martha Stewart is a saint. The prosecution of Bill Cosby was supposed to be a Martha Stewart type show trial. It possibly failed due to black solidarity
