I have a colleague steeped in the law, who predicted this two weeks ago; she said it was evident from the attorney team Cosby hired that instead of trying to prove his innocence, his lawyers would go for promoting sufficient reasonable doubt as to cause a hung jury and mistrial, and with all the publicity, it now will be impossible to empanel an impartial jury for any future trial.
That’s not a prediction. Arguing “reasonable doubt” is a mandatory part of every criminal trial for the defense.
We’ll likely find in this case that the defense won when two blacks were chosen to sit on the jury.
