Except for John Adams between 1801 and 1811.
Ole Tom never had to deal with this degree of absolute rabid insanity in his day.
“Thats why they are so upset.”
Don’t forget they were really upset with George Bush.
I would cut complete tie(s) with anyone who THINKs HRC is the one true hope for this country.
Period. Sharing casserole or not.
Many people, on both sides, believe they have to be right and anyone who disagrees with them is attacking them personally. I have many close friends who disagree with me politically but I make it my goal to express myself without making it appear I am attacking them. I believe in the subtle dig.
I support their right to be wrong. However, I know which ones to jettison.
He kept his true self hidden really well those many years. You are better off without the prick.
Jennifer, Be advised the Democrats are starting to kill Republicans. Be careful.
I had a friend from childhood unfriend me over politics. We grew up together and were what I thought was great friends.
He was always posting crap from politico and slamming republicans, yet he always denied he was a democrat.
So after the re-election of Obummer, I posted on fake book: here’s an idea for you democrats to make some banners.
“Democrats, including communists, socialists. You might have them abbreviate that to save printing costs.”
That was it, unfriended. Not a word since 2012.
He could sure dish out the dirt, but couldn’t take any in return.
Oh well...
Living the hermit life here in East Tennessee, and lovin’ it.
I can accept that. What is unacceptable is sitting quietly being lampooned time and again due to your political beliefs (right to own fire arms) and required to sit quietly as they spew their venom for those who do believe they’ve every right to do so. Silent no more means loss of many pen pals and creates a distance between family members. Thank goodness there are dogs who are more tolerant and loving than some humans in society.
Well, just to distinguish how *I* happen to use the word, I don’t use FB nor do I consider FB “friends” to be real world “friends”. If you do and find it useful or valuable, I have zero problem with that. I actually wish I *did* use it and *did* find it useful. I happen to find it an astounding security risk I am unwilling to take. I was a member for about 45 minutes a few years ago.
I would wager good money, though, that nobody on FR, not a single one, has NOT had the experience of someone they *thought* was a friend or acquaintance (talking real-world) abruptly drop all contact after one or more pro-Trump or pro-Conservative thoughts were expressed.
:-)
The fact he didn’t go there is certainly not due to their crappy food. Chic Fil A is a real treat around these parts. Their sandwiches are Yuge and awesome.
Great, and sad, letter.
I have 4 cousins (at least) who are the same. None of them even had the simple decency to respond to an invitation to my son’s Bar Mitzvah. I didn’t expect any to come - they live far away and it is expensive to travel - but at least a simple card or email saying congrats to my 13-year-old son who never did anything to them. No gift required, just a simple acknowledgement from reasonably close family that my son even exists.
Well, PHUCK’EM! If that’s the way they are over a simple political difference, then they aren’t worth a damn anyway. That is the last invitation that they’ll ever get from me for any reason. I will attend my aunt’s funeral some day, just because she is a decent person and (despite almost identical political differences) someone who put family first (and, especially if my mother, her sister, is alive, so as not to upset her). I will be decent to them, but not the least bit warm. I’ll leave the worries about warmth to their afterlife.
Again, PHUCK’EM! People like this are hard-hearted and self-centered enough to be worthy of avoidance. But despite knowing that, it is sad to have had any illusions about them being decent people with lots in common with me, completely destroyed.
“The only exception in the article is the term marksman, in referring to the psycho who tried to assassinate those republican representatives. He was no marksman.”
Heh, yeah I just had a good friend of ~5 years dump me for Trump support. I’d never talked politics with him, but he found me on social media through my cell number. Talk about intolerant...
On the flip side, at least I know how much of a “friend” he was.
