These “studies” are invalid. They do not consider all the variables. They deliberately choose a few variables to consider.

I know at least 2 people who died of alcoholism issues, who also happened to smoke. Their cause of death for both was smoking-related. Not to say that smoking is safe or a good habit, but I think there is a certain narrative to be fulfilled with lots of these “health” issues.
