The eyes are Minnie’s, but the rest of her face is definitely her father.

No problem with the comment though.

Definitely not who she once was.
That is why she retired.
Singing at that range, in that power, so often, takes its toll.

She is now 61. Many people start losing there vocal chops as they get older.

I love Olivia Newton John.
Though she still sounds good, she is nowhere near the soft, crystalline voice she once had.

From 8 years ago, when she was 61

From 1980

Just found out, her cancer has returned.
Such a shame.

How lucky you were to hear all of them. Julie trained for opera but she didn't really feel
suited for it. And those two baritones. Put them on the list when they do guys voices.

Maya sure had a bod for sin in “Idiocracy”.

The sunglasses were incredible! I knew they were popular then but it seemed that each person had a unique pair. The hats too were so classic especially Anita’s. She looked fabulous. Loved it!

What a wonderful photo -- thanks! Inspired me to find this one, too:

Funny. I’ve been waiting to see if anyone would mention Julie London too! She was what used to be called a “Torch Singer” back in the day. You only have to watch the youtube video of her singing “Cry Me a River” to see why.

Two different arrangements and styles. Most recent one is a smooth rendition, and still very good.

So did her mom before the breast cancer. Did you ever see the album cover of her with the melting ice cream cone?

Minnie was a once in a century phenomena with her voice.

i linked a video earlier in this thread of her enunciating words in the whistle range. NOBODY can do that today, or could do it back then. Most women can’t even reach that range.

Kelly doesn’t have the depth or range that Christina has, quality singer but not that caliber.

I actually found a clip of that scene, with Joni MItchell’s later voice in the background. Prior to this, Emma Thompson had come across a small box in her husband’s coat pocket containing a jewelry necklace. She thought it was to be her Christmas present. When she opens the CD, she realizes the necklace was for the mistress.

Jennifer Nettles can sing with anyone. I’ve seen her in duets with all kinds of other female and male stars and she makes them all look bad.

___
I’m not even a country music fan, but I love listening to her sing. Moving version of “Oh Holy Night” was going around Christmastime that got me started...
