I’ve never had pizza from a chain — around here, everyone goes to actual pizza shops. Most pizza shops now use the garbage techniques the chains use, so you have to be selective about where you go — if the toppings look like little turds and come from frozen bags, no. House chopped sausage from a local sausage maker is a good sign.
You got that right. Best pizza I ever had was from a little family-owned pizzaria around the corner from where my parents lived in middle-class Queens, New York. Oh, my gosh, was it ever good! The crust was perfect, and the cheese and toppings were out of this world.
Chain pizzas? Sorry, they just don’t measure up.
