Excellent choices.

Star Trek - City on the Edge of Forever

Finally, finally, Star Trek lived up to its promise. There is a surprisingly good Wikipedia piece covering the production of this show. Harlan Ellison lived up to his reputation, brilliant and difficult.

The X-Files - Jose Chung’s From Outer Space

All the X-Files episodes written by Darin Morgan were great, but I think I preferred his "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose." "Humbug" was fun, too.

The Twilight Zone - It’s a Good Life

I had forgotten about that one. The Twilight Zone was usually fake-scary, but that show was genuinely scary.

That is definitely my next favorite X-Files episode. In fact, both are close in terms of quality and originality. What breaks the tie is that Jose Chung is also part parody. Plus the all the scenes with the Men in Black (MIB) are pure gold. [In fact, this episode introduced the MIB term into popular culture]
