“Anyone who sends their kid to a public school these days is crazy.”
Nonsense, there are some excellent public schools, most,if not all, in suburbs.
.
Scouting, most likely.
I’ve been leading Cubs for 7 years and never taught a hangman’s knot. Internet, maybe.
Public schools will, almost as a truism, unavoidably move towards the “lowest common denominator.”
They inevitably become the lowest common denominator of bureaucratic governance by the state. the denominator drops relative to the amount of state interference.
While there may be excellent teachers within the group, public schools inevitably reach the lowest common denominator for teacher standards
The same applies to the students and parents they serve
I was taught all sorts of knots, but that was 1963-65.
Age 8-11
How nice. Did you purposely invite the girls that were being a bit mean to your daughter? I am so worried about this as we (she) start K next year. Awesome technique and ending.
On another note, what little kids would nearly beat a little kid to death? I’ve lived too long......
Easy for you to blurt out
We had a contractor who lived in a rough part of town. He had high expectations for his kids but they went to a bad school. Pretty soon they were teased for acting white and they couldn’t follow the expectations of their hard working dad.
“Nonsense, there are some excellent public schools, most,if not all, in suburbs.”
Actually all public schools are infected with the same bad philosophy. Some just have a more virulent strain than others. Also, it’s easy to make a case that public schools are an innovation which violate the basic principles of small government, constitutional order, and rugged individualism. Public schools lead to societal decay in regard to morals, ethics, and faith. It’s inevitable.
“Easy for you to blurt out”
The truth always is.
If you think so, spend a week in that school and see the indoctrination take place. You’ll change your mind. And really pat attention - don’t have a preconceived outcome because you want to believe it.
“School officials who turn a blind eye ... “
Or at least fired, if there isn’t any criminal culpability.
This is reprehensible. A child died due to their negligence.
“dont have a preconceived outcome because you want to believe it.”
I don’t.
The bulk of kids’ values come from the home——any good home can override the schools’ social ideas.
The academic side of the schools is what matters and many are excellent.
.
.
What would make you think that?
I agree.
She should have known better - sending her kid to public school and then being ‘surprised’ by this outcome - it’s a PUBLIC SCHOOL, after all.
Perhaps she’ll now listen to Trump a bit more when he talks about getting kids out of those types of schools.
It must be that you have your kids in public school. Sounds like you’re trying to rationalize not homeschooling her not paying for private school. But many private schools are just as bad. The teachers are trained exactly the same way, which is nothing but a bunch of indoctrination courses. And they pass those ideas on to the students.
If you think counteracting everything your child hears in school all day long, day after day after day, is that easy then good luck to you. The teachers, and the peers have more influence on them then you might wish. Especially in the teenage years.
I would consider being open-minded and looking at other options. I have taught in a variety of schools and although some might be better academically, they are all liberal. Because the courses the teachers take are all about liberal indoctrination theory. Even the ones in Texas, which you would guess would be conservative. But they were even more liberal than the courses I took in California!
