You can do 90% as well with a $100 phone, that you can with a $500 phone. I just bought my wife a nice one for $50. Does everything she needs, much better than the 2 year old phone she had before that cost 300

Um...no. The apps I can use with the better phone will save me MORE that what the better phone will cost me. Plus I will have a BETTER phone.

In specific instances, that might be the case, but I believe for the vast majority, it is not. My wife runs her business from her phone, and she does fine with her new phone. And yes, we compared it to my sons S7, ran all her stuff just as well.

I’m an experienced smartphone user who has had a smartphone since 2002, before they were even known as a thing.

Buy a lightly used phone on eBay in like new condition and never pay more than $300. Usually one generation behind on whatever flagship phone will run about that. It will run ALL the same apps as the new phone. Screw the insurance. If you lose it, buy another one. If you break the screen, get it repaired for >$100.

Add up the cost of the insurance vs what repairs cost. It’s for suckers AND it will leave you without a phone during the time of the insurance claim.
