That is a good point but if he is in fact under investigation it begs the question:
How does someone who is under investigation become acting FBI Director? Seems to me that would have been cause to pass over him even for an interim role. I didn’t want this bastard in the post for 5 seconds.
Might just be to give the guy rope and see if he too hangs himself.....along with others who get close to the guy....

As other FReepers have surmised, Trump is giving McCabe enough rope to hang himself. Let’s watch this play out over the next few days.

Think about it. If Congressmen merely requesting an inquiry could halt bureaucrats/appointees from fulfilling their normal duties, the government would halt completely.

Note that the deputy becomes Acting Director immediately by law (passed by Congress) when a Director is gone.
