Of course it would.

But if I'm not mistaken, that would put the Arabs in the
position of relying on Israeli technology and processes.

And it would be more globally friendly. Are they not concerned with climate change?

Dragging a chunk of ice sounds a lot cheaper to me then setting up a huge desalination plant.

Forward osmosis may become less expensive than hydraulic pressurized membrane desalination technology.

A draw solution of a high concentration of thermally unstable salt creates the needed pressure differential across the membrane, then the water enriched brine is mildly heated which decomposes the salt into gases.

They have a number of desal plants working 24-7 to supply fresh water to the approx 8 million in country. Problem is there is only a 3 day supply if they were to fail.

One thing UAE has in abundance is sun, making it one of the world’s few places where industrial grade solar power really works. Seems it could be cheaper and safer for them to use it for desalinization plants.
