The primary reason pits kill more is there are more of them and second a lot of trash owns them and third that trash has them poorly kept in bad environments
They are in the top three numerically and that doesn’t count all the mongrel looking terriers called pits
If there were as many Dogos or Bullmastiffs or Caucasian Mountain dogs as Pits we’d be talking about them
Are Pits harmless....hell no....any dog can be a biter
Are Pits more dangerous than say Springer Spaniels.....well duh....except to game birds..lol
I owned almost every major attack oriented breed and no question in my mind I’d rather have a Pit locked on my calf gruesome as that is cause they do lock versus a big very angry Dobie or Rott leaping to bring my down for a throat burrito
I love Rotts but a big 150 pound aggressive Rott is like a bear
An enraged ownerless 100 pound typically very good cardio and focus T-Rex Dobie is much more dangerous to an average person than a Pitbull
Given their athleticism they may be the most formidable...like a Raptor
A good friend of mine trains dogs for govt and security outfits and the King of Jordan and South African elites
He fears Dobies most and uses them and Malnois most applications for IQ and stamina
He says Rotts are best as perimeter dogs because they are intimidating but they don’t have the lungs and he likes the big Dobies and gets some same place we do
I do like some pups beside protection breeds
Frenchies
Bullies
English labs....stockier and feathery
Chessies.....hardy with a little protection instinct
Pyrenees for herds.....they don’t have to be trained
Chihuahuas just cause they are so ugly and nervous but really love affection....thank God they don’t weigh 200 pounds...lord

The black and tan markings of the Doberman’s and Rottweiler’s run from the Chihuahuas all the way up to the Great Danes.
One day, My min-pin, Goliath, (he was twice the breed average size) was at the dog park and off his leash when a Great Dane came in the far gate. She was magnificent and every dog there sensed that they were outclassed. Well, everyone but Goliath.
He looked at her then up at me, back at her and again at me. I could tell he was in love. He had found himself a big legged woman and he took off at full charge to make her acquaintance. Maybe this is where Rottweiler’s came from?
The Dane’s owner and I had a good laugh over poor Goliath’s rejection. It would have been great to have that on video.

I’ll second that. Having been an amateur expert in being on the receiving end of biting dogs, Dobies scare me about the most. Never did get bitten by one but I went through a roster of their cousins including Chihuahuas, Scotties, GSDs, Setters, white fuzzy dogs and a Chow. I was once charged by two pitbulls which had me wondering if that was how it was all going to end. Fortunately the owner was hot on their trail and he halted them in their tracks before I became a newspaper item.
But enough about dogs, we now have Great White Sharks cruising the SoCal beaches. One nearly killed a woman surfer yesterday, she lost the major portion of one leg and is in a medically induced coma.
